Birmingham Knights small forward Armond Battle suffered a partial tear to his achilles tendon on only his second appearance for the club in the home defeat to Worcester Wolves on the 20th October. It is unknown exactly how he suffered this injury, with the player just pulling up during play. He is remaining in the UK while he waits for a cast to come off and at that point he will return to the US for rehab and to be with his family. We hope to have him back later in the season – we have no plans to replace him in the team.
Coach Douglas had this to say on Battle’s injury:
“First of all we really feel for Armond having suffered such a serious injury within 48 hours of arriving in the UK. We feel that, given time, he would have made such a great impact on the league, which is why it is so unfortunate for himself, as well as the club and fans to have not had the opportunity to see Armond at his best. Although he has his leg in cast, he is still a positive influence at training in helping to secure us our first win. Hopefully he will return much stronger mentally and physically when he recovers from this injury”.
